Dr. Shela Hirani is a Professor at the University of Regina, Faculty of Nursing, Canada. SDr. Hirani is an experienced neonatal and child health nursing professional, researcher, educator, volunteer and an international board-certified lactation consultant.
From 2013 to 2015, she served as a president of Rho Delta Chapter of STTI (an honor society of nursing). Before joining for her doctoral studies, she has worked as an Assistant Professor at Aga Khan University School of Nursing and Midwifery (AKU-SONAM) Pakistan from 2004-2015.
Dr. Hirani’s area of teaching, research and clinical practice is Child Health with the focus on “Early child development” and “Human lactation”. She has published several papers in the refereed journals pertinent to the theme of maternal and child health in context. She is the recipient of several international and university-based awards and distinctions on the basis of her outstanding performance in the academia.
She has immense experiences of conducting training sessions at hospital and diverse community setups. She has served as guest speaker at various national forums, as well as has presented her research papers at national and international conferences.
Besides her association with Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI), Dr. Hirani is also affiliated with international professional organizations, including International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA), Developmental Origins of Health and Diseases (DOHAD), and Council of International Neonatal Nurses (COINN).
