Phi Gamma
Virtual Chapter!

There are 4 ways to become a member of the 'Phi Gamma Chapter' of Sigma...

1) As a Nurse Leader

To be eligible for membership in Phi Gamma, Nurse Leader candidates must:

  • Be legally recognized to practice nursing in his/her country,
  • Have a minimum of a baccalaureate degree or the equivalent in any field, and
  • Demonstrate accomplishment in the profession by meeting one or more achievement(s) in nursing categories [after completion of a basic or initial Nursing Program]:

(a) Preferred Way to Apply: Candidates (including graduate students) who are interested in joining the Sigma honor society through Phi Gamma Chapter should go to the Sigma Membership page to complete the Nurse Leader Application that is posted there; indicating interest in '481 Phi Gamma (Virtual) Chapter.'

(b) Optional Way to Apply: The Nurse Leader Application, along with a current curriculum vitae and/or resume, including full contact information (Address/Phone/Email) may be submitted directly to Phi Gamma Chapter at phigammachapter@gmail.com with "Nurse Leader Membership Application" in the subject line of the email.


2) As a Graduate Student

Students in [nursing or non-nursing] graduate programs who are Registered Nurses, legally recognized to practice in their country and have a minimum of a baccalaureate degree or the equivalent in any field, are eligible to be considered as a Nurse Leader at any point in the program.


3) As a Baccalaureate Student

To facilitate leadership development of students, Phi Gamma Chapter will consider the membership applications of students enrolled in accredited basic programs that lead to the first/initial professional Nursing Degree provided that:

  • No Sigma Chapter exists within the educational institution in which the student is enrolled.
  • The student has completed 50% of the nursing curriculum.
  • The student demonstrates academic achievement, academic integrity, and professional leadership potential as exhibited by provision of documentation directly to Phi Gamma Chapter by the individual or educational institution.

Interested qualified students should send an email to PhiGammaChapter@gmail.com with the subject line of the email stating "I am a Student Who Wants to Join Phi Gamma" to receive an application.


4) As a Transfer or Multiple-Chapter member

Current Sigma members may choose to transfer membership to '481 Phi Gamma (Virtual) Chapter.' Members often choose to join another chapter if they have moved or re-located and would like to join a new local chapter.
Phi Gamma (Virtual) Chapter is unique in that your member benefits can be accessed worldwide! In addition, current/active Sigma members, who were inducted into another Sigma chapter, may obtain multiple membership by adding 481 Phi Gamma (Virtual) Chapter to their current membership.

Complete the section to 'add another chapter' when renewing your membership indicating 481 Phi Gamma (Virtual) Chapter as your additional affiliation.

If your membership has “expired,”
log in and then change your password to renew and become "active" indicating 481 Phi Gamma (Virtual) Chapter as your preferred chapter
