Bio

Prof. Michael Joseph S. Diño, PhD, MAN, RN, LPT, FAAN is an Apple Distinguished Educator (ADE) and a member of its Global Advisory Board (2016-2018). He graduated Summa Cum Laude both in the Masters (Nursing) and Doctoral Degree (Development Studies) from Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) and the Royal and Pontifical University of Sto. Tomas, respectively. In 2011, he was chosen by the Rotary International as one of Philippine Ambassadors of Goodwill for the District 3800 Group Study Exchange in Japan. He is also the first Asian to win the Nurse in the Limelight Innovator Award given by Connecting-Nurses in partnership with the International Council of Nurses the Nurse Practitioner Healthcare Foundation (NPHF), the Secrétariat International Des Infirmières et Infirmiers de l'Espace Francophone (SIDIIEF) and the Association Française pour le Développement de l'Education Thérapeutique (AFDET) because of his Telehealth in the Community Project for Seniors. He teaches various health, research and management courses at OLFU and functions as an academic consultant for Informatics, Outcomes-Based Education, Simulation and Research in various disciplines. He was invited to speak on various local and international events of different organizations, within and outside nursing.

As a researcher and development scientist, he has published numerous patents and research papers in peer-refereed journals on leadership, management, nursing, humanoid robots and constructive integration of technology in teaching & learning. His current research initiatives include an exploration of human-computer interaction (HCI), Fourth Industrial Age/ Revolution (4IR) technologies and how it will impact healthcare science, praxis and education in the near future. 

At present, he is the Director of the Research Development and Innovation Center of the Our Lady of Fatima University and President-Elect of the Phi Gamma Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society in Nursing. 

His awards and global recognitions are numerous.He is an alumni of the Experienced Nurse Faculty Leadership Academy (ENFLA) of Sigma Nursing and Chamberlain University in Indianapolis, Indiana for its 2018-2019 cohort. An ‘Excellence Awardee’ of the University of Santo Tomas Graduate School for its Alumni Homecoming 2019, a Gawad Vicente M. Santos Awardee for Leadership in 2019, and an Emerging Nurse Researcher Honoree of Sigma’s 30th Nursing Research Congress held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada last July 2019 - the first Filipino to receive such recognition from Sigma. He was also awarded by the Government of Bulacan as the 2019 Gintong Kabataan (Golden Youth) awardee under the Professional Worker Category under the proclamation 139-2019, and recently, one of the Global Nurse Leadership Institute Academy Scholars of the International Council of Nurses for 2020. He is pursuing his second PhD at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.
